Art Forum Rue 3-5 juin 2016

Cette année verra la 7ème édition de ce forum qui a lieu à Rue au château, dans des galeries, caves et autres endroits ouverts spécialement pour l'occasion. Pour ma part, j'exposerai au dernier étage de la Chapellenie durant ces dates et jusqu'au début août. Et je serais ravi de vous y accueillir!

Art Forum will be held for the 7th time in Rue in the castle and other places open just for this event. As for me, I am looking forward to meeting you at the Chapellenie and my exhibit will last till the beginning of August.

Une peinture qui me plaît. I'm happy with this painting.

Normalement, quand j'ai terminé une peinture, j'en suis content ....jusqu'au lendemain. Ensuite, je lui trouve plein de défauts et le plaisir s'estompe. Mais pour cette huile, peinte d'après un croquis et une photo faits sur place, en Californie, elle me plaît encore bien et je crois que je vais la garder encore un bon moment!

In general, when my painting is done, I like it ...till the day after. Then, I find it full of mistakes and I am not so pleased. But, for this oil painting, painted from a sketch and a photo made on the spot, in California, I am still happy with it and I think I will keep it for a while!

Pour autant que je me rappelle, c'était au Powell's, à Placerville, près de Sacramento. On attendait d'être servis et les petits étaient bien en train de lire tranquillement. J'ai repéré par la fenêtre un vélo qui attendait son maître et j'en ai fait un croquis rapide, avec mes 3 feutres de couleurs. 10 minutes plus tard, ils repartaient les deux.

As far as I can remember, it was at the Powell's, in Placerville CA. We were waiting to be served and the kids were quietly reading. I spotted through the window a bicycle waiting for its master and I sketched it quickly with my 3 color pens. 10 minutes later, off they went.

C'est dimanche, la Fête des Mères! L'occasion de glisser sur mon blog une petite peinture à l'huile que je viens de peindre pour marquer le coup.

Next Sunday is Mothers' Day! That's why I choose to post this small oil painting I have just made to celebrate it.

Choix. Options.

Il fait déjà chaud ce matin au chantier naval. J'ai juste une heure pour moi. J'ai repéré un bon sujet mais je devrais le dessiner au soleil. J'ai aussi repéré un endroit à l'ombre, mais de là tout semble banal. Je choisis la deuxième option, juste pour être au frais, et je me laisse guider par les lignes pour aboutir à une petite aquarelle bien calme, juste pour un dimanche matin.

It's already warm this morning at the shipyard. I have juste one hour for me. I have spotted a nice subject but I should draw it in the sun. I have also spotted something in the shade, but from there everything seems too common. I opt for the second option, just to stay in the cool and I let the lines enter my pad, which finally turns out to be a calm little watercolor, perfect for a Sunday morning.

Chinatown San Francisco

Si Michael ne m'y avait pas invité expressément, j'aurais certainement hésité à aller dessiner à Chinatown. Mais il a un tel flair pour entrer en contact avec n'importe qui et n'importe où! Il ne lui a pas fallu longtemps pour qu'on nous prête deux chaises à la laverie d'à-côté. Très intéressante discussion avec la floriste aussi. Un passant chinois s'arrête pour attirer mon attention sur le fait qu'il manquait des drapeaux sur un des bâtiments que j'avais dessiné, ce que je voulais éviter en fait. Il a insisté et finalement, je les ai ajoutés, ce qui l'a rendu tellement heureux  qu'il nous a donné deux bouteilles de jus de pommes pour ce faire! Voir figurer le drapeau chinois devait sûrement lui être très cher.

If it hadn't been for Michael's invitation, I would have really hesitated sketching in Chinatown. But he has such a flair for getting in touch with with anybody, anywhere! It didn't take long before we were lent two chairs by the nearby laundry. Very interesting chat with the florist nearby too. Having a look at my watercolor, a passer-by drew my attention to the fact that flags were missing on the top of one of the two houses, which I didn't want to put. He insisted and finally I did it, which made him so happy that he gave us two big bottles of apple juice for doing it! Having the Chinese flag raised was maybe something dear to him.

Même ici, en Californie, il pleut parfois. C'est tout ce qu'on a besoin pour mettre en valeur des couleurs vives!

Even here, in California, it sometimes rain. That's all one needs to put forward flashy colors!
