Les Egyptiens révéraient le crocus comme un symbole de la renaissance
du soleil. Moi, je les compare tout simplement aux croquis printaniers
qui parsèment cette semaine comme les crocus parsèment le gazon. Et
aussi, avouons-le, pour faire un jeu de mots facile....

More basically, I compare them to the spring sketches made this week
like crocuses appear in the lawn. Well, in French it's easy to play with
words crocus/croquis (sketch) which doesn't make sense in English...
